As part of the larger, "Make It." Campaign, we challenged people to rise above the fray of the internet and make whatever they're doing stand out by putting their project on a Squarespace Website.
The beautiful thing about Squarespace is you can be any sort of out-there weirdo, take any idea, and turn it into a professional statement the world can't ignore. (Take this site for example) To prove our steadfast belief, we brought in a lovable weirdo in the shape of Jeff Bridges to demonstrate it. We came up with an out there idea- Jeff Bridges Sleeping Tapes - and showed how it can become something amazing on Squarepsace. We concepted and recorded the entire album with Jeff, created the teaser ad below and a really different Superbowl ad above to promote the website and album.
We built DreamingwithJeff.com on a Squarespace template to demonstrate all the things a Squarespace site can do- from e-commerce to media players.
And we sold the album- Jeff Bridges Sleeping Tapes- at the site. People could download the album, stream/share tracks, and buy LPs and Cassettes.
I personally concepted the album and wrote several of the tracks, including my favorite, Temescal Canyon.
The album spent 10 weeks on the Billboard New Age Charts, peaking at No. 2, was given a 7.8 rating by Pitchfork, named an album of the month by Paper Magazine, and dubbed one of The Best Overlooked Albums of the year by Pitchfork. Father John Misty even said it was an album he hoped to make in 40 years.
Here are a few choice cuts from it -
To show people how he sort of recorded the album, and how to sort of build the site, we made this tutorial video as well.
